The Tradition of Christmas Celebration

For two millennia Christmas has evolved into a worldwide religious and secular celebration, incorporating many pre-Christian and pagan traditions into the festivities.

Christians celebrate Christmas Day as the anniversary of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of their religion.

While, popular customs include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.

More less in Asia, Japanese has their own tradition to set Christmas as once in a year moment to gather- and exchanging gift with their family. The question now is: How Indonesian react to Christmas tradition?

Before, as rare as tradition of drinking wine during dinner, Christmas celebration is still uncommon in Indonesia expect for Christians. However, as time passes big companies does participate Christmas by decorating the whole shops, releasing hampers packages, even putting Santa shows.
